Dambusters on the big screen – 25th November

from an email sent by a mate:

Hi Everyone,

We are hosting an event at the Wetherby Cinema on Saturday 25th November. The film to be shown is the recently restored 1950s classic the Dambusters starring Richard Todd. Gates open at 12.30, the film starts at 1pm.

Richard Todd has been invited to attend, but this is to be confirmed.

Tickets are £5 each ALL money goes to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance. I am covering the cost of the cinema and film hire.

If like me you have never seen the Dambusters on the big screen, this promises to be a great experience, and you will be helping a great cause, that potentially benefits anyone in East Lancashire, Yorkshire, Teesside and North Lincolnshire.

Please contact me to reserve a ticket.

Regards,

Stephen

Nah it was much better watching it in the Astra cinema on the Duxford North site (and we sang the theme tune!).

Oddly enough there is a romour on tinternet that Richard Todd has laid down a commentary to go with a new version DVD which will come out when the NEW film does.

I reiterate it is a rumour but so was The Battle of Britain dvd a couple of years ago, so fingers crossed.

I wouldn’t get too excited.

I doubt they were recorded in Dolby / Surround sound / etc

Moggy

Right enough, but they didn’t with Battle of Britain either, and the sound was still impressive when I saw it! 😉
