Hi Guys,
i thought many of you may be interested in this.
May 14th, The National Museum of Photography film and Television will be having a screening of a restored print of the Dambusters followed by an onstage interview, discussion with Richard Todd and members of the 617 squadron who were actually on the raid.
ive got my tickets…………….:)
the museums, screenings and discussions are very excellent events and this one should be amazing.

for anyone up here in Lincs, there is a showing of The Dambusters
on 18th May at The Kinema In The Woods in Woodhall Spa
The ad in the local paper also lists ‘time related support films and music from the compton organ’ !!! not sure about the music bit
but the Kinema In The Woods is always worth a visit itself.. and of course theres the 617 Sq memorial and Petworth Hotel in the
village…
link for the Kinema is www.thekinemainthewoods.co.uk

PeterW…asking what else we’ve got is like asking how long is a piece of string? 😉 :p
But seriously…on 35mm film we have ‘Ill Met By Moonlight’, ‘Ice Cold in Alex’, ‘I Was Monty’s Double’, ‘The Battle of the River Plate, ‘Dambusters’ of course! and ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’ just to name a few
With regards to hiring, the fees charged do depend on who the screening is for e.g if it’s for veterans fees might be reduced/scrapped…
I do have a plan to try and organise another get-together at Duxford which includes a visit to our Cinema, but I need to do a bit of head scratching first! 🙂
If I don’t get back to you regarding fees, please remind me!

Hi Ashley
Just wondered how much the IWM charge to hire the print? I could provide the cinema if we wanted to have a forum get together or we could arrange a showing with the proceds going to charity (Linc Lanc Ass?).
Peter
PS What else you got?

🙂
Was just delighted that it was so close and in theory i’ll be able to go. Would have been rather disapointed to have missed out.
Have yet though to make it down to the NMPTF today. Any chance you can let me know the details please? Time/Cost etc. Obviously i’m missing something as I can’t seem to find it on the site…
Cheers

PeterW…yes the IWM certainly does have Dambusters on film…I had it in my paws only the other day 🙂 It is a 7 reel job on 35mm, and often out on loan to cinemas, private showings etc. Let me know if you would like further details.

I wonder where they got the print from?
A few months ago when we were talking about get togethers, I inquired about getting hold of a print for my cinema and was told that none were available.
Ashley, does the IWM own one?
