Dambusters – theoretical question

If the RAF wanted to bust a dam today how would they do it?

Good question but too be honest it would never happen, unless it was “War of the Worlds”
And the best way would be with the SAS/SBS.

I don’t know, you also had the bunker busters, they carried a small charge but would penetrate 200 odd foot.

Would either of these two methods penetrate the water to the correct depth before exploding or would they be aimed at the dry side of the dam?

LGB probably or cruise missile, they took out a hardened power station in Iraq with two launches, the first took the hardened wall out and as the Iraqis were standing looking at the “US failure” the second arrived, flew in through the hole and took the generating plant out 😀
