Damyns Hall Military show

Just browsing on The Sally B website and she is pencilled in to display at Damyns Hall this year near the old Hornchurch aerodrome. With the BBMF bringing a 3 ship this could be a very interesting show!!!

And its right on my doorstep to boot!!!!:D

It used to be a slightly tricky westerly runway if not much headwind, will be better at the new length.

I visited Damyns Hall a few times while the Goodyear Blimp was there, wonderful airfield with very good access and a really friendly atmosphere.

Well worth a visit on a standard weekend, and a cracking day’s entertainment on the airshow days to boot. Show’s looking good this year – I haven’t been to the airshow before, will be the warbirds be operating from Damyns? No idea what the runway length is like to be honest!

Hi,

I just thought I would send out an update on the 2011 Military and Flying Machines show. Yet again the show has increased on last year’s numbers, and we will now expand into a 3rd field. We will have free entertainment for all participants on Friday the 5th of august in the main Marquee, consisting of the fabulous Annie Andrews singing live and a DJ playing us right through the decades from 1950 onwards. Saturday will see the Polka Dot Girls, the Breton entertainers, a 1940’s style Big Band and Annie Andrews, and Saturday night we have Texas Tommy providing the music and A2 jive providing the dancing! And all FREE!

Good show and plenty to see apart from the aircraft so it was good for families as well.
The only criticism (apart from the queue to get in) was that the fence along the display line was obstructed by vehicles and displays so it was a bit difficult to get a space to take photos. Only a comparatively small criticism and one that could easily be sorted for the future.
The airfield was under threat of closure. Is there any news on this?
