I love watching this programme with my Son. In fact, I love Saturday morning CGI on Five (well, DD & Max Steel – not too fussed on Excalibur). I never actually read theEagle comics but was always fascinated by the clips shown on TV. It’s really stiff upper lip British, with loads of ‘jolly good show’ commentary. I think the makers have stuck amazingly well to the spirit of the original comic strip (love the Huge RAF Crest at spacefleet Command!).
The space battles are great too – ‘The Mekon Amoung Us’, on the other week in the UK, had a great bit in Part 1, when the viewer zooms all over the space battle with some fantastic CGI effects which, IMHO, would rival Star Wars for excitement.
Any more DD fans out there? Any links?

I read a bit of DD when it was run briefly in 2000AD. This CGI jobbie, is it British made?

I used to read The Eagle when it came out the 2nd time around in the early 80’s. Dan Dare was tops, they gave away a free 7″ record by some dodgy band in an early issue which had a Dan Dare song on it. Typical sounding 80’s mince, but a good old sing along if you were about 11 years old which I was at the time.
