Dart Group 757s

Confirmation today that the Dart Group have purchased two 757s:

LONDON (AFX) – Dart Group PLC said it has bought two Boeing 757-200
aircraft
from New Mexorado Gas LLC.
In a statement, the company said the aircraft will be used to further expand
the operations of Channel Express (Air Services) Ltd.
The acquisition will be funded from existing cash and bank resources.

I presume that these are going to be the ones operating out of LBA to TFS for Jet2, ex Turkish birds that have previously operated for FlyAir/Correndon.

I cant see TFS been the only route for the 757s, they might use them to up capacity on the AGP runs or launch a new route from LBA or MAN.

Cant wait to see them in Jet2 colours!

Well according to Pprune, 2 to be based at LBA, 2 at MAN and 1 at EDI.

Can see the 1st two been based at LBA, with the TFS route.

Advert for flightcrew in Flight was for LBA basings…but that could easily be changed.

The word on the streets (well, at MAN) this morning was that one of the first pair of Jet2 B757s will now be based at MAN.

First I’ve heard of this, but it’s from a source inside the industry who’s been very reliable up to now.

Couldn’t help but notice the latest rumblings from pprune, which mentioned eventually operating 5 B752s. (one of which would be based at EDI apparently)
Hopefully this speculation has some truth to it…

As someone on Pprune helpfully pointed out, Channel Express are now advertising for B2 Engineers, Chief Training Captains, Type Rated Captains and TypeRated First Officers to work for Jet2 on the Boeing 757.

Our growth at Leeds Bradford is being boosted further by the introduction of B757 aircraft, and means we have excellent career opportunities for experienced B757 type rated

The TFS route (Which is what they are destined to be on apparantly), is due to start in October, though I can see them used earlier in the height of summer on the AGP/ALC routes personally. Lots of rumours flying round that these arent going to be the only 757s for Jet2, and that they have very big plans.

Lets hope!

Yup, AA use Trent 892’s.

Used 757’s are booming at the moment – I’m not sure of their exact values but there seems to be several going to airlines with ‘limited’ financial resources.

I can’t blame them for selecting the type either – they are still an economical aircraft and can get in and out of airfields which are restricted by runway length. The seat/mile cost per PAX is still favourable when compared to younger a/c such as the A321 and they can fly further with max payload.

Regards,

Jim

They are almost certianly going to Jet2, to operate the TFS route and maybe others.

Made me laugh when Sandy said LFCs opinion was ‘close minded’, reminded me of someone who thinks the opposite way 😀

And Jet2 is the trading name of Channel Express’ Pax division, so 😉 right back at ya :p

Indeed, and I alluded to that effectively. However, the press release doesn’t specify Jet2 and that leaves the door open for them to be converted to SFs and operated by ChanEx, even if the rumour machine says they’re going to Jet2.

All this talk of Jet2 757s! Serve you all right if they convert them to special freighers – it actually does say for Channel Express…! 😉

(OK OK, I know, CEAS is parent of Jet2, but non the less…)

ok…..an International Aero Engine powered A321, which is a joint venture between Rolls Royce,Pratt and Whitney and MTU, i just neglected to mention the other 2 companys ;o)

Yes IAEs or CFMs on 321s, and I bet you won’t see an “RR” badge on the side of either! 😮 :p
