The one that made me giggle when I googled – was the mustang with a ramjet on each wingtip :D…just when you think that you have seen the dumbest idea ever LOL 😀

Have to agree. Have always liked the look of the Dart Mustang. Just a shame it never actually flew like that. Maybe a nice little project for when the lottery numbers come up :).

They are nice pics, always liked the Cavalier and Enforcer Mustangs, more than the original.

From memory Laurie Curley was involved with this conversion along with a guy called Smith. They also played with a Lycoming 540 in a Chipmunk and diesel engines in Ford Falcons neither of which were very successful.

Didn’t Cavalier do a turbine conversion? I seem to remember a photo from Davis bone yard showing six of them? or am I suffering from old age again?

Dart power

Yes thats interesting,I did see it at aero-tech at Toowoomba after Guido Zuccolli had purchased and was in the process of re- conversion to Merlin power. This was never comlpleted prior to being exported. Many thanks

Welcome to the forum Kurfurst.

VH-UFO. Never flew in this configuration, and was later imported into the US where it was rebuilt as a TF-51D under a false identity. Now flying with Rod Lewis as ‘La Pistolera’.
