I am seeking assistance on where I should be looking on an allegedly ex-RAAF DH82A airframe to find an identification marking. The airframe is fairly bare, and somewhat difficult to access due to how it is stored, so I am also seeking advice on where secondary markings on wings or empennage might/should be found that could help to positively identify it. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated. With thanks in anticipation, Geoff.

There is also a dataplate on the forward end of the rudder but I don’t think you can track that back to the main dataplate???

Normally screwed on to the centre decking (Cowl in DH ) on the inside above the rear throttle. The serial numbers of the side frames are stamped in a small welded tag on the top longeron at the rear cockpit near to the top joint. IF they are the original paired sides from assembly , they should be in sequence numericly. That should give you the build position on the assembly line and so the aircraft serial number. Vague hope, but there you are.
