13 data plates that are said to be plane related at auction on 15th July 24. They are local to me.
I have struggled to identify them but believe that the top left is, from the inspection stamp, to be North American P51 Mustang related
With the top row second from left would be Handley Page but I have not found that version of the inspection stamp. However, if the drawing number possibly relates to type E retrospectively re-labelled HP31 Harrow.
If anybody can throw any light on these I would be interest to learn more.

Thanks for the info ColFord.
Bunsen Honeydew well I don’t like it and consider it sharp practice and it does stop me leaving advanced bids of any value greater than £6-7. I just have to live with it.
The auction house is on a trading estate which is located on land which was RAF Burtonwood so it is possible that these data plates have their origin there. Incidentally, there is now absolutely nothing left of RAF Burtonwood, (unless buried, of course) the vast apron which was the last remaining feature has now been ground up. The usual thing industrial estates and housing with road names like “Lockheed”.
So the plates did not sell in the timed auction ending on Sunday and they are now lotted in the Home & Garden auction on this Wednesday 31 July 2024 starting at 09:00. The lowest hammer price they will accept is £6. If they do not sell then they may enter them again in 2 weeks or they will bin them. I am not personally interested in them but if they are heading for the skip I will try and get them.

Have to say that I buy on auction a lot and only one auction house I’ve used uses the maximum bid in the way Paul describes, in fact, they use your maximum as the opening bid. Not sure if that’s legal but I don’t use them unless it’s something special.
All the others have their own view of the opening bid and will use their normal advance to reach a selling price which might be your maximum bid but might not

NAA 73-58051 – Reservoir Assembly – Hydraulic Fluid. relevant to NA-73 Mustang I only. Was revised on the NA-83 Mustang I with replacement being the 83-58051 which carried forward to the NA-91 P-51/Mustang IA, but new part/assembly for the NA-97 A-36A Mustang and further revisions and new parts/assembly for the Packard Merlin version Mustangs. So the data plate is from a hydraulic fluid reservoir off a NA-73 Mustang I.

The charges are cheaper if you use Warrington Live for the live auctions but that will not be an option for the timed auction which is on The Saleroom.
Always happy to report on, take pictures of any lots that members may be interested in.
If bidding on the “live” auctions my advice is not to leave a so called “maximum bid”. It is my experience that the auctioneer will say start for asking for bids at £100, if no takers he will continue asking for bids at several lower prices. However, when he reaches £50 he will take your recorded advanced maximum bid so you may end up bidding significant more than necessary.
This auction house does allow you to see hammer prices of previous auctions.

You haven’t said which auction house was/is selling the items.
By: paul1867 - 16th July 2024 at 16:34
They didn’t sell. The auction house had put an estimate of £10 to £20. The minimum hammer price that the auction house will accept on any lot is £6. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to follow the auction live but I would think the auctioneer probable came down to £6. The lot will now appear in the timed auction that closes from 19:00 on Sunday. If it does not sell then it may be re-entered in the next Military auction or possibly/probably will appear in the next Home and Garden Auction. If they do not sell then in all probability they may be heading for the skip.
Again happy to post them for anybody on here rather than pay the Auction House postage fee of £19.20!

Paul I had seen them on saleroom as well.
The ANA plate with 73 part number I have checked P-51A parts list and although many parts of the wing and rudders are 73- part numbers I cannot see this part. There is no match with the later P-51D.
The PP plates are Miles Aircraft.
