Becks quite rightly described his visit to British troops as ” an honour “.
Have you ever been on the receiving end of one of these morale-boosting visits ?
Are they valuable ? If you were in that situation, which celebrities would you most like to see ?

Wouldn’t she just? I always maintain they should never have nicknamed her Posh Spice, why?
A) she’s not posh.
B) If she smiled her face would crack, Grumpy Spice would have been more apt.

They should’ve sent that thing Beckham is married to over there..she’d scare the living daylights out of the Taliban

Well BRB has mentioned that he saw Catherine Jenkins out there, so you can’t moan!

Wonder what the Scottish, Welsh or Irish Troops would of made of the visit. Why did he go, was it a PR stunt. I hate football so I will not be watching the World Cup.

Didnt know Max Boyce was still alive?
Oh yes, and he’s living with the local BBC TV weatherman!

So what are you suggesting, sending Janette Crankie, Max Boyce, Henry Kelly, and Beckam as an ensemble to visit the troops!
It’s not my thing, but I’m sure plenty of troops appreciated seeing Beckham.
Didnt know Max Boyce was still alive?. Frank Hovis would of been a better choice:D.

Even if it did little for morale, it’d get the Taliban running to the hills…:diablo:

I admire your generosity of spirit, Blue – I’m afraid I’m an unreconstructed cynic.:)

Waiting for the lead flying to ease off a tad RH. I’ve no time for football, watching a bunch of blokes kicking a bag of wind round a field does nothing for me, but fair play to him for going out there. I’m sure it’ll mean something to the troops out there who do like the supposed beautiful game…

Another PR stunt by someone, a footballer, who has suddenly found an interest in our servicemen overseas. I wonder why? Where has he been for the last 5 years?

So if someone were to offer you that kind of money, Scott, you’d turn it down because it was so much more than members of our Armed Forces earn?
Of course you would.
in total honesty, id at least give some of it away to the likes of our troops over seas, to make sure they have the equipment they need, look at it this way, the amount of money football players get, could protect our whole army, navy and airforce in a war by far

I’ve never, ever liked the man, he is always out for what is best for him (when dropped from the England team in 1998, it was “I am crushed” and “I should play”, what you want to hear is “Of course I’m gutted but I’d drive the team bus and cut the oranges for half time”). He is a wonderful self publicist and has a tip top media team to promote the whole “Brand Beckham” thing. While I do question his motive as I think he is self serving, at the end of the day, he has gone along, its not 100% safe and people there who don’t share my views on the man will get a “lift” from him being there, as will the families at home who my get pictures of dad with a world famous footballer.

Send him out there to do a real job for the kind of wages we get then watch Grumpy feateures drop him like hot coals. I’ve never believed her remark that marrying him was not out of financial consideration, if that’s the case why didn’t she marry him before she found out her efforts to resume her singing career were going to fail?

personally, although he might think he was doing good, is that not in a way, rubbing the troops faces in it so to speak, considering the wage he is on per week is quite possibly what they make in about 2-3 years?
