Spent yesterday in Genoa after snapping up flights on Ryanair from Stansted for £23 rtn inc taxes. There were hardly any pictures from Genoa on the internet (aviation related) and so I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I was very pleased though to find a very nice city, and the airport held quite a few photography opurtunities. It seems to be where Piaggio produce their Avanti aircraft, as I must have seen 5 or 6 of them buzzing around all day. Mainly Italian domestic traffic, but also caught a very rare Russian Defence Yak-42.
Outbound flew EI-CSR, inbound on G-BZZH.
One of the highlights is the airport’s offset ILS approach, put in due to the high terrain surrounding the airport. This consisted of a number of sharp turns quite low to the sea, and then a short final approach.
Got some shots here, just re-sizing some fo them still. Here are 2 to start with though. Taken with long exposures at Stansted. Very pleased with the first shot, note the streak caused by EI-DAO on push-back behind.

Thanks very much, greatly appreciated. I have just found my next trip once I have the money……STN-CGN rtn on Germanwings for around £26 inc taxes. Anyone else used them or been to CGN? If I get flights this winter, looks like I could get a chance on the 717 they are leasing 😀

Excellent report Dan, and very nice shots too. I have to say i do like the wing overview pics and the Long exposure shots… also the ryanair 737 underwing shot at Genoa is very nice. 🙂
