Don’t know if it’s been covered yet, but the local news reported that the Dutch DC-2 ‘Uiver’ suffered a left main gear collapse yesterday while taxiing at De Kooy airbase in preparation for a display practice. No personal injuries, but I suspect it won’t have done the aircraft much good.
Haven’t looked for more info/photos yet, but I’m sure something will turn up. This isn’t a good thing for the Dutch warbird/oldtimer scene. The Connie is still having engine problems, and the Dutch Catalina is rumoured to have a busted engine as well (saw it parked at Lelystad today, but couldn’t spot anything significant from the distance).

Edit: photo added.

The Dutch Cat already has another engine and is flying again. The DC2 wasn’t open to the public on sunday instead they put the Cat on static. One of the reasons it was absent from Legends.

Ouch! Good news that there are no injuries, poor DC-2 though! I wish her a speedy and inexpensive recovery! It’s funny, i was only thinking about her at the weekend, about how lovely she woul have looked on the flightline at Legends and to do a solo routine.

Relieved to hear there are no injuries, and I hope the damage to the airframe isn’t too severe.
