DC-3 Crashes in Venezuela

My sorrow for the victims of the DC-3 crashed in Venezuela. I have travelled other DC-3 overflying Angel falls and it was quite nostalgic. I suppose this was due lack of correct maintenance. Something should be done to correct this.

RE: DC-3 Crashes in Venezuela

It is so sad………….but it`s a money problem with the airline I think.
But things can go wrong anytime…..
We have the “Dutch Dakota Assosation” they treat their planes like babies,
and even then things can go wrong,
a few years ago they lost their flagship PH-DDA in a tragig crash with a lot of people
on board who just enjoyed a sunny day on the dutch island of Texel.
Some part of the prop-feathering broke off placing the props on one side in a position
where they caught all the wind they could!
and then the plane went down.
So I think it is also a very big portion of bad luck,as the DDA maintains their planes
maybe better than big airlines!!!!

RE: DC-3 Crashes in Venezuela

There´s something very curious about this. Pilots are usually better trained in that countries where the state of planes and navigation aids are bad, because they have to face with a difficult orography, technical problems, no aids at ariports, bad weather prediction and sometimes conflictive. You can imagine that difficulties are the best teachers. By the way, sorry about the terrible earthquake happened over there. I don´t what are they like, but I suppose something scary.

RE: DC-3 Crashes in Venezuela

I feel dreadful for the victims…the cause of the crash was deffinatly mentainence. Mentaining a DC-3 is not easy as it is an old plane. Venezuela is not very good in aviation as i know.
