A DC-3 (N3906J) crashed and burnt out this afternoon (15.48) in a residential area of Fort Lauderdale. The crew of three are reported OK, and no injuries known to any other persons. The pilot seems to have managed to land on a road running through a densely packed mobile home park.

According a news interview with the pilot, a fuel line came loose and caused one of the engines to burst into flames… nasty business! They did a fantastic job of getting that R4D down without any fatalities and as little damage as possible to the area (the plane, of course, is a pile of molten slag unfortunately).

Phew, a close one when you look at the built up area it came down in.
Man, that is some airmanship by the crew to have got it down in that confined space – it will be intriguing to find out how the plot unravelled…….
Makes my practice forced landings into nice big green fields look a little tame!

Yeah, that’s why it is covered in close-shaving foam.
