I live near the old Deenthorpe USAAF base which is nowadays used by microlights and the odd light aircraft. I recently noticed a much larger aircraft there and went today to take a closer look. It is Air Atlantique DC-6C G-SIXC. Has been there for at least two or three weeks. I see it was put up for sale. Has it been bought or is it stored there. Anyone know?

At a guess I would say BBMF Lancaster and 2 Spitfire’s as they are down to do a flypast at the Town & Country Festival at Stonleigh today and tomorrow.

Just a thought. You guys who are in the know don’t make life easy for a novice. I’ve read all through this thread but I’ve no idea what I might see if I was to go to Coventry tomorrow. Doesn’t the BBMF have six Merlins? If so, I see two thirds of them over here quite often. Now THAT would be something to see at Deenethorpe!

Wonderful picture – I’ll miss her! The first interesting thing I’ve seen at Deenethorpe since they demolished the control tower about 10 years ago. There are planning applications posted at the airfield to divert the public bridleway (presumably away from the perimeter road which it now uses). Perhaps that’s a prelude to making the airfield more secure. Hope so – I’d love to see some more activity there.
