Very sad to hear of the crash in Colombia yesterday involving the DC3 once operated on the European display circuit as N47FK ‘Fifi Kate’ (now registered as HK-4700). The fate of the five persons on board is currently unknown, hoping for good news.

Sad….Condolences to all the family members.
It’s a reminder that some vintage airplanes are still working for a living, doing what they were designed to do and not mere rich men’s toys.

Very sad.
We see these machines ‘on the circuit’, at shows etc, and they feel as though they are now ‘preserved’ , and with us for all time
Yet look at threads about displays past, and it is sobering how many we always took for granted are now gone.
Then there are those like the Strikemaster, which disappeared off the UK air show circuit, and went off to fight in the Ivory Coast !

DC-3 Folks:
Sad news indeed!
These DC-3s & crews (some females Capt) earn their pay under the most demanding schedules & weather conditions. You may see ’em in U-tube.
Included here is HK-4700 while at the paint shop somewhere in Colombia c. 2011 under another logo “Laser” . Photo via AEC. May all those souls rest in a much better place!

That’s very sad. It had already been wrecked and repaired once since arriving in Colombia. 🙁
