Does anyone have any information on a DC4 that visted Southend in the very late 1970`s maybe 1980, it had spray bars fitted for oil pollution, and was around the time the UK Oil Pollution contract was undertaken by Harvest Air at Southend. I think it was US registered.

I remember the DC3`s and Islanders, and even a Cessna Seaplane all in Yellow Check scheme, but the DC4 was before the DC3 days, i think they only had it in for a week or two, and were probably evaluating it as it was before they had any contracts awarded and got the Daks.
I used to work for them as a “Saturday Boy” when i was 16, and was used to mixing with Cessnas, Pawnee`s & a Fokker Triplane, so a DC4 outside the Hanger was a bit different!

They certainly operated a couple of DC3’s with spray bars. At least one was in the checkerboard tail scheme…..GAMPZ possibly? Don’t remember a DC4 though….

Beleve Harvest Air used a fleet of 7 or 8 Islanders with a yellow and black checker tail.
