DC6 Airborne

Sure I just heard (and saw before it vanished into the murk) one of Air Atlaniques DC6’s take off.

Any of the insiders care to confirm this – could have been an Electra, but the noise wasn’t!

when is the Classic Flight moving to Kemble? How are they going to get the grounded big stuff there?

Its not. There is a possibility that the Jets may move, but I don’t think anything has been decided yet.

Heh, that’s just jogged memories of the low-level formation Dak flying I witnessed o/h Southam a few years back. That’s when we had airshows. Speaking of which, when is the Classic Flight moving to Kemble? How are they going to get the grounded big stuff there?

But for multiples, the Dakotas were more impressive.

you want to hear two of them (DC6s) doing a ‘synchro pair’ display routine! Does anybody have any pictures of this happening…

Yes…

Sure is nice. We get 3 of the fleet thru’ CVT at night now, and as busy as it gets now on a night shift they look great lined up on the ramp.

I’ll try and get some photos if anyone’s interested.

And it looked, and sounded gorgeous just as it made its left turn onto final near my house. Makes a pleasant change from flying buses.

Yup,

It’s a regular route ABZ-EDI-CVT and then the reverse in the wee hours.

For the spotters it’s G-FIJV at the moment.

Not often you get a Shack and a 6 running at the same time in the same place these days either 😮

Tom.

Typical, I would be on nights 🙁

Considering they have been sat out on the grass for some time, G-APSA purred like a big kitten today! Not often you get a Shack and a 6 running at the same time in the same place these days either 😮

I also have it on good authority that left AND returned with all four engines running. Excellent.

The sixes have been idle since about last Nov I think – hopefully today’s activity is a sign of more window rattling to come (I live under the turn for finals to Cov international spaceport :))

Hello SeaFuryFan,
I can believe it.!!…several times before now one of the Sixes has caused me to wake the whole household and have me hanging out the bedroom window in the middle night..listening to it rumble across E. Lincolnshire and out across the North Sea.

Thinking on it may be last November since I heard one out and about this way on.??

Send one this way soon please..!!

All the best,
Clive.

Not quite in the same league.?..but last evenings excitement in these parts were 2x A10..not seen them for a while…

You would not believe (correction, you lot probably would) the excitment created in my household (by me) when the ‘6’ comes to Aldergrove.

An awesome sound, really reverberates around the houses. I used to watch the skies to try and catch a glimpse (due to the Barratt rabbit hutches surrounding me). I have moved away now, to quieter climes (is that right, ‘climes’?) – does she still frequent, I wonder?

I’ll be there.
Will be wearing the big silly grin after my Prentice flight, and and even bigger sillier grin when I get off the Shack.
Pitty the weather reports not too clever – still, time for that to change

PS IF ANYBODY FROM OPERATIONS IS LISTENING I WOULD NOT BE OFFENDED IF THE ‘SIX WAS ROUTED OVER THE FOOTBALL GROUND, AT A RESPECTABLE ALTITUDE OF COURSE

Sorry Will, day off!

I believe it was up for crew training. Now the ATR operation is more or less up and running they could well be wanting to get them back on the ad-hoc freight market and earning some cash.

See you all Saturday!

Tom.

The hat is just a figurative one I think 🙂 To qualify, one has to have frozen half to death all winter working on PY 😀
