De Havilland dH104 Dove /Devon

hi guys,

as anyone out there got or can get access to the above, i am collecting material ready to start producing accurate drawings, all the drawing out there at the moment are utter rubbish.
would love a set of station drawings, fuselage and wings, but the width of the wingtips would help to start with. or a photo taken from above or below.

thanks for you help in advance

ps, don’t tell inky what i am doing!!!! hahahahh

hi guys sorry to hi-jack the post! but im writing an essay on the sea devon and what its role was in the FAA but i cant seem to find any information about it anywhere!

cheers for any help

Ryan

Probably as the Sea Devon had a pretty pedestrian role in the FAA, being purely a communications transport aircraft. Main operator was 781 Squadron based at Lee-on-Solent, but one was allocated to each Royal Naval Air Station as a hack for use by the Station Commander. There were a couple painted green and white and one painted blue and white allocated to the the Flag Officer Naval Air Command and known as ‘Admirals’ Barges’. Hope this helps.

ok,

so where is the nearest one to me, Coalville Leicestershire, with easy access with car or even 8 wheel truck for me to take hundreds of close up photos for the detail on the planned drawings.:D

Sorry that I’d missed the earlier request – one of the oldest Dove’s in preservation G-AHRI can be found here – most approaches for photography access are accommodated! 😉

Someone was photographing the Bulldog cockpit yesterday when I was at NAM. 🙂
