Perhaps as expected, no bids were received.

😀 … Dave Says: The DH museum would be the correct home for this engine. I would support a forum collection for this.

why not wait and see what dave says?

As long as Key has no problem with it. I’ll discuss it on the mod forum later, and we can see if there is a means of administering a fund. A paypal account might work.
If insufficient money is raised, then the money goes back!

As it stands, it is my belief that the engine is a little overpriced.
Its a tricky one though – a rare mark of engine, but not one that could be used in a Warbird aircraft. Its value therefore comes through its rarity alone.
I have known the owner of the engine for many years now, and have looked at this engine, and the other one with it many times. Of course, he wishes to get the maximum return on his property, and I wish him every success in so doing!

Apparently this forum has over 9000 members.
Wouldn’t it be possible to formalise some sort of forum fund for important historic purchases of this sort?
Admittedly not all members are active and many would be unwilling to contribute but some have already stated that they would be willing and those members that were possibly able to contribute more could make up for those who, for whatever reason, could not.
Maybe £2 a month to fund a ‘war chest’ for this sort of occasion.
A ‘priceless’ relic of an extinct aircraft, and a charismatic one at that, at £20,000…
…means only 2000 forum members contributing £10 each (if it sells at that price). 😮
A pipe dream maybe, but worth thinking about?
Also I fully understand that many forum members already contribute much time and money to other (more worthy) causes.

20K and he can’t even be bothered to remove the paper work from the top of the engine, and there’s no carbertooter….
By: Bruce - 16th January 2008 at 17:19
No, it is one of those advertised last year.
The seller has the matching engine to go with it as well.
Unique to the Hornet, and with little crossover of parts – many internal parts were different to those that went before.

Interesting, thought it would be one of the ones advertised last year, but this seems to be a different animal. No mention of any paperwork of course!:D
