Death of a 757

What a shame
http://www.airliners.net/open.file/565590/L/

An old accident I know. But its a great to know that everyone came out of this alive.

Also, proof positive to all you non believers here, the engines (or more precisly the pylons) sheared off once the landing gear failed. All the protection systems kicked resulting in the lack of fire 🙂

So people, it is possible to survive a crash if the aircraft ends up sliding out on its belly with wing mounted engines.

aquaplaned off of a very wet runway on landing.

Skidded across the open land beside the runway, down an embankment, gear totally sheared off. Engines seperated and the rest came to set as you see.

Nothing the crew could do.

No fatalities, although an ederly passenger, who was completely uninjured, died of a heart attached a few days later. But doctors said with the condition of her heart it was going to happen soone ror later.

Yes, they leased a few from Transaer for a couple of years. I flew on EI-TLO LBA-Gerona-LBA. This picture is taken at Gerona 2 weeks before I flew there.

Another person with a spooky story, as I said I flew on G-BYAG, and flew into Gerona on a Britannia A320 not long before this happened.

I flew to Girona on a 757 exactly one year before that 757 crashed there. I also know what the weather can be like there, and its not nice. When it rains, it bloody tips it down… HARD! And lightning like youve never seen. Bolts of it shooting into the ground in front of your eyes. Very scary it was, as we actually took off in that very bad storm.

I flew with Britannia to Barcelona-Girona (©2004 Ryanair) on a 767-200 not too long before this accident happened.

Yep, really sad to see it in that way. Even more for me as I flew on that bird, G-BYAG, MAN-LCA.

also, proof that a ditching can be survived

And this wasn’t exactly a modern aircraft either 20 odd years old at the time
