dedicated CAS aircraft, obsolete by today?

All this talk about AMX and Su-25 makes you wonder if they’re both obsolete. It seems that a litening pod strapped F-16, which is much more capable than both aircraft, could hit the same targets, from a higher altitude and at least makes it safer from low altitude SAM, manpads etc..

In a sense, those who want Russian probably would be beter off with a MiG-29 with some kind of targetting pod equivelent to Litening (SASPAN maybe?) instead of the Su-25
