Found this while poking around on the World Wide Wait. Not sure if its been posted before.
What is it ? Methinks its a DeHavilland of some sort (Dove / Heron ) ??. Anybody know ?
Does anyone have pictures of other ‘planes that have been converted to road use, like the Walrus Caravan, the two butchered warbirds (Mustang and a Kittyhawk for some post apocalyptic road warrior film), the DC3 on a lorry chassis and dont forget the Caravelle converted to a live aboard luxury motor cruiser.
Whats out there ?

… DeHavilland of some sort
I would normally correct this to ‘de Havilland’, but on this occasion, I don’t think Sir Geoffrey would want to put his name to it.
Wonderful!

Our Sunderland was once used as a nightclub of sorts. And our B-17 by missionaries!

Don’t forget one of the most heinous acts of barbarism ever…the “Cosmic Muffin”.

Or should we be thankful that the cockpit and fuselage (err, make that wheelhouse and hull) still exist?

Can you see the similarity with the Mosquito?
Interesting, was it intentionally?

What a picture JDK! At least it is ‘preserved’ but as the photographer says:
Shame or Glory? I am not sure.

There certainly was a Blenheim car…now where the blazes did I see pics of that ???

The Blenheim 1 nose was indeed a car, used as a battery powered oject around it’s Bristol(?) base.
Winner (for me) despite a good showing from the Do24 boat in Aus, is the Boeing 307 Stratoliner, ex Howard Hughes, used as a Miami boat… See: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/434168/M/

There was a Walrus restored by Russ Snadden (I think). I remember it had been used before as a caravan (trailer) … the previous owner hat cut it lengthways in two parts, broadening it by welding 50cm of tin into it. 😮

There’s a Horsa glider currently under restoration that was actually someone’s caravan for a good few decades! As of now it still has all the fittings in it.

Used to be a Dove by the looks of it. What a strange Device!
