Man shoots himself in the head and dies while demonstrating gun safety
The man was showing his girlfriend that loaded guns are safe when he died
A man in the US accidentally shot himself in the head and died on Monday as he was trying to persuade his girlfriend that guns are safe.
The unnamed 36-year-old from Independence Township, Michigan, was demonstrating how his three handguns are safe when they are not loaded by holding them to his head and pulling the trigger, Detroit Free Press reported.
But when the third gun went off, the man was struck in the head with a bullet. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities say three children not related to the man, aged 7,10, and 12, were in the home at the time of the shooting, but did not witness it.
The man’s girlfriend told police that he had been drinking most of the day before he died, and sheriff’s officials said alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident, according to CBS Detroit.
An autopsy will be performed by the Oakland County Medical Examiner as an investigation into the man’s death continues.
A man in St Petersburg, Florida died in similar circumstances in January last year, when he too tried to show that guns are safe and shot himself in the head.
A potential entry for the Darwin awards?
Still, that’s one way of showing gun ownership and stupidity mix like oil and water (ie, for those heavily qualified as brainless morons like him, they don’t).
Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows you never point a gun at anyone.
And if they don’t then they shouldn’t be allowed within gunshot distance of a weapon.
Including sheets of paper (can’t be long now before somebody dies from a paper cut…)

So they could do thousands more. It wouldn’t upset their bank manager, could it…

Wouldn’t that just be Armscor protecting their own business from the more amateur rivals who might be driven out by the requirement to obtain a licence?
Yes but Armscor does business in millions and the backyard boys in thousands.

Oddly this measure was supported by one of the Philippines largest makers of firearms, Armscor which started as a backyard garage operation.

In the U.S. one thing, that even the press has mentioned, for just a moment, before burying it, is that the 24 hours day, weeks long, coverage such murderers gets is probably a major reason that it happens.
Suicide having been elevated from being a thing done by fools and cowardly scum tobeing a real cool way to die has probably contributed to sleaze deciding to be remembered by being a murderous coward.
Addendum:
I found out recently that the Philippines have a group of firearm enthusiasts just as gungho as those in the U.S., whilst submachine guns there cost a tenth of what they do in the U.S.
I read a Philippine forum where a fellow Filipino asked the owner of a subgun how hard it was to get papers to get one and he replied by saying when it is quiet, it is just a normal pain in the buttocks but when the rebels cause trouble it is very easy to get.
On a secondary note: the Philippines have area similar to the gun makers in Pakistan’s Khyber Pass area, last year the Philippine government passed a law that would require the gun manufacturers to get a Fed. license.
Oddly this measure was supported by one of the Philippines largest makers of firearms, Armscor which started as a backyard garage operation.
Here are a couple of the products of the garage gunsmiths; they are Thompson submachine guns with a shortened receivers called a tomgram locally.
They were for sale in the Philippines version of internet want adds.

Your sense of humour is lacking some what. I bet you love The Good Life, The Goodies and Birds of a Feather.
Um, no. I had to look them up (mostly) but since you mentioned them I guess they are high in your comedic top ten…
I’m more a Blackadder, Black Books, Father Ted sort of guy.
The mind of the Chav is rather limited in intelligence
Ah ha, something we can agree on.
so no.
Oh.
Indeed, it’s not just an American thing. Nevertheless its pretty common to hear in the news that some nitwit has decided to storm a Campus or a School, so yes… It’s not just an American thing, however there’s a pretty significant gap to the next country that witnesses such mindlessness.
Gun count per head in Switzerland and Finland is very high, yet somehow they tend not to shoot as many people in the face as they do in the US.
Look, there are more then enough loonies on here without firing up the one nation who would claim that you can only remove their right to bare arms from their cold, dead fingers. Yes, Switzerland and Finland have a high gun count but that is because (at least for Switzerland anyway) there is a gun culture that requires each adult male to be in the military reserve and have a gun in their house. Russia and Australia (alcohol and boredom the big factor) are all other gun carrying suicide/murder places but nobody turns a school/college/cinema/post office/McDonalds in a blood splattered, charnel house of death like an American with a grievance and a gun. Canada also has guns but, unlike their big southern neighbour, they
But I didn’t want to type anything like that; I was happy for you to bring it up and get the gun freaks knocking on your door with their grievances and guns – aren’t you pleased to be living in Britain where only some criminals are armed, not all those crazies who have a pathological need to tell you they own guns? But that’s you saying that, not me…;o)

Yes it is; now go and change your trousers.

If we had the foresight to allow weapons into the hands of chavs don’t you think they’d be shooting themselves too? Its not just an American thing.

Because the republicans wouldn’t allow a blind man to have guns? Not sure I understand, obviously.
And whats a ‘Rino’?
Republican in name only.
As to your first statement what are you prattling on there?

“Man shoots himself in the head and dies while demonstrating gun safety!”
Is it bad that I pissed myself laughing at this?…
Yes it is; now go and change your trousers.

I agree with you regarding the excess H and S rules but unfortunately those who really would have not survived because of their stupidity have caused it to be.
By: EELightning - 28th February 2014 at 11:42
You can’t teach common sense, thats why pages and pages of H and S and labels on products have had to be written.Somethings need training on ie how things work, getting systems in place BUT the basic of don’t point a gun at someone incase it goes off should not need to be taught.
I do recall a photo of Winston Churchill in front of a fighter and if the trigger had been pushed well it would’ve been messy.
Yes but, there’s common sense and there’s patronising Health and Safety training, labels, signs etc. I’ve got two jobs these days, one is a live/touring/studio Musician/Guitarist which I started early last year and, my goodness, some of the Health and Safety regulations is just ridiculous. We had to go through a 5 hour “Training Session” on noise levels. My other job is a Guitar Technician/Sales in a well known UK music store and a lot is just as pointless. I’m all for Health and Safety, up until a point that is. But there’s a point where it’s just silly. Really silly.

EELightning I must admit I had a laugh at that as well. Lucky escape for the girlfriend also she could have ended up marrying that Bozo!
I wouldn’t normally at people’s misfortunes. I’d generally be concerned for someone’s wellbeing be it stranger or not… But sometimes the term, ‘the exception that proves the rule’ comes into the equation. Like this idiot:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJcpeqBJXgU
It’s obvious what was going to happen… And when it did I had to laugh!
The first thing that was ever drummed into me was “Never point a firearm at another person unless you were going to use it!”
Common sense at the end of the day. You know that from your background in the military and I’m sure you didn’t had to be told that. As a Musician/Guitarist, I know not to mess about with Tubes while the Amp is switched on. It amazes me how many people lack common sense.
