Hi,
After my trip to Heathrow (see seperate post), I routed home via Denham. Being at the end of December, I was fighting the diminishing light during my visit, but there was still plenty of interest, including French Registered 172 F-GVBV:-

Another non UK aircraft was N100RZ:-

G-BSDP is based at the airport:-

G-JACA was looking longingly at the warmth of the hangar:-

I hope the photos are of interest – a couple more can be found at http://www.flickr.com/photos/indiaecho/

Was Chris working on the desk in there when you flew from there?
Good luck getting your medical back.

Used to do many moons ago.
Hopefully back flying out of Andrewsfield again if I’m successful getting my medical back..

A225HVY, do you fly with the pilots center?

Have quite a few hours with BDSP in my logbook!

No problem Dave. Make sure you do it in the summer, weather is normally nicer then!

Thanks for that EG.

Dave, I was based at Truro in 2003 – 2004 and then late 2004 in to 2005 (both flying schools failed) Runway there is grass with a nice slope.
Spent most of my time based at Perranporth from 2004 to 2007, nice hard runways etc. Flew in to Lands End a few times, a bit bumpy regarding to taxiways, it’s all grass there but nice all the same. Flew in to Bodmin which is a nice challenge too. Also flown in to Plymouth city airport (closed now)
I’d recommend Perranporth simply because the approach to runway 05/23 is beautiful, as is the approach to runway 09.

Not ‘done’ Cornwall yet. Anybody recommend some airfields? Min 500 metres.

I want to! I just haven’t flown much for a while 🙁
By: MSR777 - 16th March 2013 at 13:46
Well, that settles it, you’ll just have to fix up another flight over Cornwall, I can imagine that it looks really good 😉
By: EGTC - 16th March 2013 at 02:46
You’ll get used to it. Turbulence has never made me feel ill, so I’m sure you will just get used to that feeling in time 🙂
Cornwall would be a bit of a long trip, yes. 🙂 I was lucky enough to train down there but sadly haven’t flown over Cornwall since moving away in 2007. In the 7yrs I spent living there I still wish I had taken loads more pics from the air.. and on the ground too.

Did it look something like this?
Moggy
It certainly did, although, I think that we had slightly better viz on the day.
haha not quite got your flying stomach eh 😉 🙂 I actually felt a bit sick in the air back in 2010 during a flight over Cambridge and I have been flying since 2003. I think my sugar level dropped as after a divert and a cup of tea with 2 sugars I was alright again. I must have looked bad up there at the time as my mate, Tony, looked at me and said ‘Do you feel alright?’ 😀
Sounds like you had a good trip overall. If you ever get the chance, fly over Cornwall. That place looks amazing from the air.Nice shot, Moggy 🙂
I was a bit embarrassed at feeling a little ill towards the end, but as I say, I made it down ‘intact’ If my dear friend should offer another flight, I’ll certainly go again. I would expect that a trip down to Cornwall would be a longish trip? You guys would have a better idea on that than I 😉 I know that a trip on a Ryanair Stansted to Newquay was around 45 mins or so, but its not a trip I ever made.

Yes, it’s a nice part of the country to see from ‘up there’ I think one of the more memorable sights that day, was around The Wash, but Ely Cathedral was pretty cool too. It was beautiful weather, so visibility was excellent. However, on the way back to Cambridge, we did encounter some turbulence, and I think that if the flight had gone on very much longer, I’d have needed ‘the bag’ 😉 Would I do it again? you bet!

East Anglia is pretty nice, isn’t it MSR777? I flew out that way in 2010 and flew around Lakenheath and Cambridge airport and in 2011 flew to Duxford and also Little Snoring.

Despite a 25 year aviation, I had never flown on anything as small as these types of aircraft….until last October. A good friend of mine, offered me the chance of a trip from Cambridge in a Cherokee. We had a just under 2 hour odyssey over the sights of East Anglia, what a treat! Nice pics.

Good set. Always nice to see GA types on here.
Good to see the pilots center are still there. G-BMTJ was the first plane I ever flew as a trial flight back when I was 16.
