That’s all I know. Heard it from mother who heard it from the radio. I’m looking for a press article.

O-o, the other terminals will be crowded now! Air France was the main operator here!
Hehe, this means Paris is no longer ready for the A380… Hope they wil by the time that Air France receives theirs!

my thoughts and prayers go to the injured, deceased and their families. It’s a sad event.

Very sad indeed 🙁

I don’t think thats what Concordesst means. I read it as he was sorry for the victims, and for Paris, as this incident WILL dent their Olympic chances. The comments he made reflecting what the public are going to say about it (mirror, sun et al) it just wasn’t worded as eloquently as it could have been.

I know that people have died and i am sorry, but this is also a disaster for Paris, it was short listed for the olympics, but if they can’t make a roof that stays up well … you know what i mean.
Sorry mate , that’s the kind of crap that I would expect from the Sun or the Mirror but not from you …… not very classy indeed… 😡

Rubbish!
This could have happened anywhere. Remember the delays opening that millennium bridge in London? You can’t blame Paris or France for this, especially not before the causes are known.
This is a dreadful incident, and my sympathies go to all of those affected.

Maybe it’s gonna be the fault of the company that built it…
First of all my condolences to the families and the best of wishes to all whom were injured. As a civil engineer I can say, you can’t determine the cause of such a collapse. It could be that the designer of the construction designed it too weak, the architect is at fault, the builder didn’t build it according to the plans, the materials weren’t up to specs and the regulation was not adequate are just a number of possible causes. So pure speculation at this moment.

This is all over airliners.net. The pic of it looks horrific. Will 2E open ever again before it is rebuilt?

Oh my G-d! Condolescences to all the victim’s families.
The cause may be that there was not enough structural support.
By: Duesseldwarf - 23rd May 2004 at 13:23
My thoughts go out to the families of those killed and to all those who are badly injured or affected by this rather surreal accident. This should never have happened to such a new modern building. Someone’s head must roll if it’s found that the structure was weak.

I read that the police noticed cracks in the roof and that therefore they had evacuated that part of the terminal just before the collapse. That might explain why “only” 6 where killed, 3 of which police officers.
http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/afp/20040523/ts_afp/france_air_accident_040523111911
Several police officers, who had spotted a crack appearing in the roof and were trying to cordon off the area, were wounded by flying shards of glass.

I doubt it ….
Anyway , it seems that “only” 6 people died. Some of them are security guys who were trying to secure that zone since passengers reported some concrete dust falling from a roof a few moments before the accident.
3 Other people are wonded but their life is not in danger. Could have been much worst if this had happen a couple of hours later….

Update from the radio. I translated it myself.
It’s not the first time that the terminal causes trouble. The offical opening was delayed because the terminal didn’t have it’s safety certificate on time. The area had been closed already by police when they saw big cracks in the walls.
Who wants to bet with me? : It will be nobody’s fault …. 🙁
