Hello,
I am trying to research the loss of Lancaster ED450 which crashed into the breakwater at the entrance to Plymouth sound in February 1943.
Thanks to Google I have found a few references to the crash and the recovery of a few items from the wreck during the 1970s but as the Devon Aircraft Research and Recovery Team appears to have played a major role in establishing the identity of the wreck back in the ‘70s I would like to make contact with the group if it still exists. I can’t find a website for DARRT; does anyone know if it is still active?
Thanks,
Ed

Thanks all.
Hopefully, tomorrow, I will get to meet up with someone who helped to recover the Merlin engine from the seabed.
He also says Robin Hood is a key man to speak to…I will try Tattered Flag as Andy suggests…unless you have his contact details H M S Vulture…?
Regards,
Ed

You might get hold of him via Tattered Flag publications.

Hello Ed
The DARRT Diving team did recover a main wheel tyre plus brake drum assembly from this aircraft in the 1970’s. I remember cleaning the brake drum and shoe pads. Sadly though myself and other group members have tried to contact the curator Robin Hood but without success for some years now. So I can only assume DARRT No longer exists. The fate of the relics and records is unknown.
