Wow, what a fantastic looking aircraft. Have seen and admired the Mossie but this is one sleek plane!! Particularly liked the photo page on the above mentioned website showing one with both engines feathered – Bob Hoover eat your heart out!!

Best of luck with the project, for what it’s worth I’d have given all the lottery money from the Vulcan to the sky fiasco to projects like this, that help retain and expand the diversity and heritage of preserved aircraft.

I think possibly the effort to built a D.H Hornet virtually
from scratch is worthy of more attention rather than a minor niggle over the company name.

I agree! Aeroplanes are more important than niggling. Best of luck with the project.

I should imagine that the vast majority of people get the meaning of the project from the title. I think possibly the effort to built a D.H Hornet virtually
from scratch is worthy of more attention rather than a minor niggle over the company name.

Indeed David, we are hoping to have Mr Collins and some of his cockpit parts at the CockpitFest (in fact he promised me!!!)

I have sent you a PM DB old chap….!!

Just in case there is a copyright on the original text, I chose to change it a little for my headed paperwork and business cards.

OK then.
Have you researched the copyright? It might be worth finding out. It seems a pity to mess up a good name.

DH Hornet project – mini update

All

I will prepare a full update with pictures in the next few weeks. However, in brief, I have assembled all of the instrument panels, finished the pilots floor, and assembled the seat onto it’s frame work. I’m now working on the rudder pedals, and the LH/RH instrument consoles.

The www.dhhornet50.net website is steadily being added to. This will include more new photos of recent parts. We have had a complete and cowled PR.22 sea hornet merlin engine loaned to us for the re-union in May 2005. This will sit nicely with the cockpit, rear fuselage, and wheels.

The cockpit I am assembling is a F.Mk.1 Hornet, and will include a lot of original components.

I was always under the impression that de Havilland was not written DeHavilland. Please refer to the latest edition of The Moth for confirmation.

You are correct. Just in case there is a copyright on the original text, I chose to change it a little for my headed paperwork and business cards.

Hi

Are we privy to a more detailed expansion on “Yes” as for some of us less telepathic busy bodies a little detail helps entertain our otherwise aimless days

Kindest regards
