With Mosquito T.III TV959 moved out of Avspecs in preparation for shipping to FHC, PZ474 (later NZ2384/ZK-BCV/N9909F) has moved into the main Avspecs hangar at Ardmore, New Zealand

Photos from Avspecs engineer Derek Smith’s Facebook

Wings Over NZ thread

For flight possibly late 2017, MAYBE at Warbirds Over Wanaka 2018, then to Rod Lewis.

AvSpecs had plenty of the special-order components required made, so it will be straightforward to provide additional rockets (for a reasonable price, obviously).
And I’ve got some more photos from a hangar visit at the link in my earlier post. At little more work done on engines since the public engine run, but cowling panels not fitted.

That is the best looking Mossie. Just knocked the TT at Duxford of the top spot for me. Now I just hope to see the glass nosed 1 in Glyns workshop finished in PR blue with Stars & bars to be in heaven ;-D
Those rockets look the nuts!!!!!

Yes, my understanding they arrive about 14th. Possibly all the test flying hours after the initial flights by Kiwi pilot/s

Lovely! An unexpected pressie!

I’ve read test-flying is set for next month, when test pilot Steve Hinton is available to come. That’s exciting in itself! (But I may have it confused with the P-39, if so my apologies)

What an absolute beauty. Just a little too pristine at the moment, once it has some patina it is going to be glorious!

Looks great with the panzerknacker 60lb HE RP3s on it – must be a first since the 50s! Well done! 🙂

Absolute magic! I look forward to seeing “ours” in due course; and I hope that wherever the Hornet’s ultimate home may be, she will be able to visit the UK at some stage…

Hats off to them, they’ve not only turned out three Mossies but managed to represent most of the schemes the fighter-bomber types wore – just need the SEAC and post-war versions now!

Well the second was in a postwar scheme briefly, just not an RAF one…
I’m glad it isn’t in one of the CC schemes with all the letters ahead of the roundels, they look odd!

Great to see and hear another Mossie come back to life, complete with rocket rails! As others have said, it’s great that so much “ground” has been covered with only three restorations (FB, NF and now Coastal).
