A friend is modelling a D.H Mosquito NF.II and drew my attention to the armoured bulkhead behind the navigator’s seat, in particular the upper hinged section with the hole in. He has been unable to find any reference to when this was introduced, so I thought I’d ask here. You can see it here on this preserved example: (unsure which aircraft this actually is, the Flickr account isn’t specific)

So was this a standard feature of all Mosquitos? Or just the fighter types? Does anybody know if it was introduced at a fixed point in the production line, or added for certain squadrons/operations?

Looks like John Smith’s NZ2336 in Mapua, NZ. See here: http://www.kiwiaircraftimages.com/mosquito.html
