Great pictures and terrific video. This an event I have meant to attend but never quite got there partly because I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the day. Having seen your video I will make an extra effort to make time for a visit next year.
Thank you for the compliments and it’s an event that well worth going to, particularly on Saturday. Try to arrive before 1pm to be in time for the flypast.
Regards

Orion…………
You did right to stop at home on Sunday. Flying was cancelled by 09:40 and we were busy “striking camp” soon after.
Thank you for the “pics”. Just checked out the film show……….excellent !!!!

My thanks to ‘Propstrike’ and ‘Feather #3’ for their kind remarks. I had planned to go back on Sunday but it was raining here in Harrow at 8.30 and it was pretty well in for the day by then!

That is a great little film, and captures the atmosphere very well.
I had a lovely day there, probably enjoyed it more than something like the RIAT. The event had a laid-back and charming garden-party feel to it.
As the sky got blacker and blacker, I chickened out and fled back to Chesham since my car has no roof ( or windscreen) and the rain drops really hurt at 40 mph !
The downside of the display is it probably cost the charity about £5,000 in lost revenue, since charity rides ceased at 12.45 and did not resume until 3.15.
To a degree, this was an enforced break, as the Royal Flypast would shut the airspace regardless of the club’s wishes.

I have now uploaded my film of yesterday afternoon to YouTube. I’m sorry about the wind noise on the soundtrack, the jack plug for the external microphone became disconnected from the camera. Notwithstanding that I hope everyone enjoys it.
The film opens with the Queen’s annual flypast (or what was left of it by the time it got to Halton), then the barnstorming sequence, some excellent aerobatics, then the Hurricane, Spitfire and Rapide and finally the charity flying. The film closes at around 3.30 as the rain was on its way.
