Hi All,

Can anyone help with some DH Rapide parts I need for the DH88 Comet project I am involved with. I am looking for wheels and axles plus oil tanks.

Many thanks

Ken,

You might want to call Rex Ford at Fenland, he may have some spares from when he restored G-AKRP – since sold on.

Rapide parts

I can help you, Ken, with most if not all of the parts you are looking for. 🙂 Could you pm me?
Incidentally, there are three different sizes of Rapide oil tank – you had better work out which one you need.

David.

If neither of these have been made airworthy in the last 30 years, then they might just as well use them for spares?

As Yak 11 fan correctly observed this is the statement I count as rude, you could have said ‘they haven’t been airworthy for 30 years and he may have spares’, also surely a pm containing the contact details would be better than just posting for all to see, maybe you know Mr Pierce and he didn’t mind but I would if it was me.

Hi Adrian,

Thanks for the thought, I have tried to contact John a couple of times in the past but he doesnt seem to reply to letters. I will try again and fingers crossed this time.

I think that may be the rude statement….

Albert have you contacted the owner of these aircraft before making such a rude statement, if the aircraft are in storage pending restoration/what have you then surely they are better to be kept intact and not plundered by people who don’t think except out loud.

What ‘rude statement’? All I suggested is that the owner be contacted to see if any spares were available between the two airframes?
No one mentioned anything about ‘plundering’ airframes!! 😡

Ken,

Why not contact :

JOHN PIERCE
LEY FARM, GREEN LANE
HALTON, CHIRK
WREXHAM
LL14 5BG

He owns G-AKOE that has been stored at Chirk for nearly 30 years, along with G-AIUL/G-AJCL. If neither of these have been made airworthy in the last 30 years, then they might just as well use them for spares?
