DH Vampire/Venom Similar parts

Relating to the MK 3 Vampire, do other DH jet products, ie Venom, Vampire Trainer fit to the MK3 Vamp? such as wings, engine mount, ailerons, engines? like do Venom wings bolt right up to the Vampire or no? I do know the Venom may have a different degree sweep in the wing, over to you the Dehavilland specialists, thanks Darrell

If we are talking about the same guy he had two or three sets of wings, one was Swiss!

Forward pickups are in the same place.

They are a bit beefier on the Venom, and the ‘ole is bigger.

Yes, Swept wing is a relative term! I wonder if our friend has found some ex Swiss Venom wings….!

I could be wrong about this Bruce, but stems from earlier this year when I was interested in a Venom pod, I was under the impression that the forward spar pick-ups were either slightly further forward or not as deep or something?
Be nice to see what the actual differences are either way.
I would think it would be actually easier to find Vampire wings than Venom, especially in Canada, you occasionally see them kicking around over here.

I like the swept-wing thing, DH advertised (Flight etc) the Venom as a new swept-wing fighter for the RAF and RN! Of course it isn’t actually swept-wing, just a swept leading edge giving the impression of latter techonolgy!:D

Indeed

The problem will be that the cowlings on the Venom are rather different, and as James says, the intakes are also rather different. The wing itself is swept, whereas the Vampire one isnt, so what you will end up with is a Venomish, rather than a Vampireish!

I only said they would fit – not whether they should!!

if I have a Mk 3 pod, booms and a tail, the Venom wings, engine mount would finish off a Mk 3 looking Vampire?

No the Venom wings, intakes and the fillets are completely different to any Vampire (the biggest change between the two types), I don’t know enough but would think the engine mounts would differ aswel, the Vampire having a Goblin and the Venom the Ghost.

Nice Mk.3 pod though, good to see these things about.

Check out the number on this Vampire Mk 3,, James Bond would be proud, very much a work in progress.

Very nice.

At least you have a complete pod which is more than I currently have with the FB.5!

Dont suppose you have either a spare nose cone or at the very least the top part of one?

Thanks for your quick relpy Bruce, so if I have a Mk 3 pod, booms and a tail, the Venom wings, engine mount would finish off a Mk 3 looking Vampire? again thank you, Darrell

Best bet is a pair of Vampire trainer wings. Will give you the right profile (though a shade under length for a Mk3 as Bruce says) and will not require modifications to the thru spar ends.

Yes and No.

You can fit FB5,6 or T11 wings to an F3 pod; they just wont be right.

Engines, engine mount are the same.

FB5 ailerons wont fit an F3 wing – F3 are longer.

Venom wings will fit, if you change the carry through spars, which have larger holes. Actually, you would get away with changing the end fittings I think!

Broadly speaking the single seat pods for Venom and Vampire are the same, except where they were modified to take ejection seats.

Again, broadly speaking, Vampire NF, Venom NF and Sea Venom pods are the same except for detail changes as they evolved.

Vampire trainer pods are quite different to the others; whilst they follow a similar design ethos, they are a quite different design to the other two seaters.

There are various boom configurations, but they are all broadly the same, and just have added fairings and so on.
