DH Venom down in the US.

Didn’t end well. No idea which Venom or who was in it.

According to an eye witness two jets took off together with the second one running into trouble. I wonder if the other was the Meteor?!

The whole accident is very sad including the loss of animals on the ground.

It was a single seat Venom which has been operated in the US for many years. There were reportedly a couple of people sadly injured on the ground, in addition to the loss of the pilot, which could explain why some folk are confused about if it was a two seat aircraft. Sadly the pilot is someone we got to know and respect.

yes it was..the thing that worries me is they are saying it was a two seat jet…if i recall the only two seat venom is the sea venom….and none are flying…i hope no one else was injured or worse.

Very sad news. Wasnt it Marty Tibbits who had just bought the ex Classic Flight Meteor T.7 from Coventry and had it shipped to the US?

Marty Tibbits was due to appear at EAA Oshkosh starting Monday . A terrible outcome.

“Oshkosh is known as the place where everything that flies is welcome and is appreciated by attendees, so to bring these rare jets to the AirVenture flightline is among the highlights of our odyssey to save, restore, and fly these magnificent airplanes.” said Marty Tibbits, president of the World Heritage Air Museum of Detroit, Michigan, which is bringing the British jets to Oshkosh in 2018. The museum’s mission is to rescue military jet aircraft from the ’50s, ’60s, and ’70s.”
