DH Venom FB4 WR539 in a very sorry state 1976

Virtually hacked to pieces for shipment to the UK. It started off as a gentle dismantling then the order was to get it ready for shipping very quickly. In the end it sat like this outside the hangar for weeks.
Sorry about the photo quality, it’s a photo of a photo off an old 110 neg.

Such as it is, its at the de Havilland Museum, nr St Albans.

It now comprises the pod and tail section, plus cowlings and sundry other parts. The wings had corroded beyond reasonable use, and were scrapped.

There’s enough of it to bring it back to life with the judicious use of some Swiss parts as well, but its a big task.

Its currently in store, and not available to view.

It was supposed to be going back to the UK for restoration and display at Hendon. Guess the lads messed it up too much. Have to admit I walked away from helping when they got overzealous about doing things quickly.
Where is it now and is it available to view?

Thanks for posting this – sadly it never recovered. It might do in time, but if you think that’s a sorry state, you should see the old girl now.

One day, perhaps!!
