DH Wartime production figures

The thread on rebuilding a Mossie triggered me to look at the Mosquito book for the first time in I don’t know how long. While just glancing through it I came across some fairly amazing statistics.

I’m sure other companies, especially in America, would have equally if not more staggering figures but the DH ones are quite impressive. The following figures are for DH in Britain alone, not including Airspeed or any organisations that built Mossies or other DH aircraft.

During the war they built: 4,444 Mosquitoes, 3,744 Tiger Moths, 110 Queen Bees, 200 Dominies and 1,440 Oxfords. Major modifications to 1,131 Mosquitoes. Repaired and returned to service 1,252 Mosquitoes, 905 other DH aircraft, 470 Hurricanes and 335 Spitfires. Built 10,212 Gipsy engines and repaired 9,022 Merlins. Made 102,245 propellors and repaired/overhauled another 40,708.

The mind boggles…
