Here’s a video of the DH-4 flying in the US. A great machine! I can’t wait to see (and hear!:)) the DH-9 fly.

The ‘airworthy’ DH4 in the US was flown for a season about 3 years ago, and has been parked up in the museum at Creve Coeur since then. There’s another one in restoration at Kermit Weeks’ place, they just hung the engine on it.

There is a DH.4 airworthy in the States with a Liberty engine.
Is this additional to the one bought by Peter Jackson and on display at Omaka on the South Island of New Zealand ?

Northern Aeroplane Workshop at Batley are reproducing a Camel for the Shuttleworth Collection
Seemed quite advanced the last time i was there.

re;
pity there isnt a Camel to fly with it – still the F2B and a DH9 will make a stunning sight together.
Where is she likely to be based?

Bit of a way to go yet, I gather! 😉
New hangar being built is for paperwork, not the DH9.

[HTML]Fuselage completed.
Wings almost done.
Engine underway.

Has the paperwork exceeded the max all up weight of the aircraft yet? Otherwise the CAA will not be happy. :rolleyes:

I cannot give a time frame, though!

So, how far along is the “airworthy” DH9 then?
By: sopwith.7f1 - 29th September 2011 at 09:57
DH9a
I believe that a handfull of DH9a parts were found in Afghanistan, & brought back to the UK “not enough to form the basis of a rebuild though”.
I know some one who would like to build a repro, but unfortunately there is “at the moment” an almost complete lack of drawings. Anyone know where they might be.
I believe that the late Mr Robinson who lived in Stockport had some, along with some for the DH4, DH9 & DH10. Again any ideas as to where these might now be ?.

Not desperately good shots, but here are a couple of it at hand-over.
When I pulled it out of the basement of the Red Fort in Bikkaner it didn’t look much like this, though.
There are some nice shots of it on the Duxford thread that I think Blue2 posted a few days back.
The other one, which is being restored to fly, was progressing nicely when I last saw it about ten minutes ago!!

re;
I am fully aware of the Hendon example. I want to see one fly! Any pictures of the Duxford one I have not seen it.

The dH9A recovered from Krakow has been in Hendon since 2003
True but I and I think Sadsack are talking about a different aircraft.

The pair of dH9 recovered from India by Guy Black went to Retrotec. According to their website the second is being restored as a flyer.
