Is it correct that the washington sniper is sueing the gun company and the retailer for negligents?….Is it me but has the world gone mad or just the American justice system

On the subject of No Win no Fee… Have you noticed that we don’t see little Declan who damaged his eyes in his local playpark on the telly anymore? He got £8,000 with the help of Claims Direct! Fortunately, no more annoying advertisements becaust they have gone bust!

I can’t see how the families can sue the retailer or the manufacturer, when its every Americans right to bear arms.
Unfortunatley its all because of the ‘blame culture'(No win NO fee…yes you’ve seen the TV ads!)which is now coming to Britain.
I heared of a case in America where a man was caught and imprisoned for a crime and was bringing a case against himself for lose of liberty and income. So stupid it’s probably true, and the sad thing is the good citizens of America are probably paying for his legal fees!

Dazza,
I think you’re right about the families but it does bring up an interesting point. American’s have this constitutional right to bear arms but where is the regulation? Even here in the UK it is a simple matter to obtain unlicensed firearms and the recent gun battle in Birmingham shows that those obtaining such weapons now are more than happy to use them indiscriminately. The situation in America must be so much worse when firearms are easily obtained legally. I can see the point of sueing the retailer but not the manufacturer. In the case of the sniper there may even be a case for sueing the Army who trained the sniper. Is there any form of psychological cross-checking when applying for a gun license?
With guns so easily available illegally, it seems ridiculous in the extreme that the legal process of owning a licensed firearm allows Fred the window cleaner to own anything from a small handgun to an Uzi or a Kalashnikov.

I think you’ll find its actually the families of some of the victims who are sueing the gun makers and the retailer, not the sniper.

Or his parents? After all, it was them who brought him into the world. Unless he’s gunned them down too.

They’ll just laugh in his face and rightly so.
It’s like fat people sueing McDonald’s because they are fat and others sueing cigarettes manufacturers because they have cancer… some people have some strange imaginations.
