It seems that an ex-skywest pilot on the run for suspected murder attempted to steal a CRJ-200, failed and shot himself.
Sounds utterly insane but the story is here -> http://www.nycaviation.com/2012/07/did-someone-try-to-steal-a-skywest-plane-in-utah-last-night/#.UAcAjfW1CeZ

The bloke must have had a serious psycho problem. Fortunately it didn’t manifest itself while he was flying with passengers.
They say he killed his ex-girlfriend.
I’m no shrink, but I’d guess that there are a lot of people out there who are capable of killing a loved one but who would never think if killing strangers.
In other words, they may be jealous, violent, controlling nuts…but not a complete sociopath.

Considering the low value of CRJ-200s these days, I think it’s safe to assume this is a write-off.

a photo of the jet in question:

Another amazing thing is that security didn’t stop him and didn’t even notice the crashed jet! It was staff showing up for work that spotted it.

Saw photos on TV…
He not only hit another jet, he dragged the left wing along 20 feet of the terminal pushing in the stucco, and hit a car.
Final result: No nose cone, half the left wing gone.
My guess is they’ll scrap it for parts.
