The quake’s thread about Iran makes me wonder: did you ever experience an earthquake?
If you did which magnitude and duration.
I was in Santa Clara (CA) on Oct 17th 1989 when the big shake occured: Mag 7.1 duration 30sec : scary !!

Oh yes the 2000 (or 2001) Gujarat Earthquake magnitude somewhere around 6.3…… killed 20,000+.

yes, not a good place to be under a bunk bed…California and the Pacific rim seems to have lots of these. Also, one question, is it common to have passenger planes being struck by lightening? I don’t mean near one, but struck by it… why ask? Was on one of those…oh yeah, one time on a plane about to take off with fuel goshing out of the wing tanks….and then they had to stop the plane and then it stopped after some technicians around it…then the pilot annouced it was just an excess fuel dump…i really really doubt it…
Flood,
Imagine a world with no hypothetical situations…
how about theoretical ones?

I’ve been in a couple, including the Northridge Earthquake that hit california. At the time it struck..it was time for bed, and I was using the bathroom. You could imagine my surprise and frustration as I pondered “shuold I run out like this or wait and finish?”

I’ve been in 2 earthquakes. the second one reached 6.3 on the richter scale like the Iran one. I slept through both.

There was one in the Glasgow area on Boxing day in the early 80’s (1981 ?) that shook a few chimney pots and roof slates loose. I was in bed and woke up to see the debris lying about the streets. Very very small scale by comparison to what happened in Iran and elsewhere, but I can’t help thinking that if the houses in Iran had been built like Glasgow tenements it might have been a happier time out there right now.

1983 in Misawa ( northern Honshu ) Japan. lasted about 30-45 seconds around the middle of the day. Pretty impressive. In the low low 5’s caused a little damage. Killed a couple people about 50 miles away. The building I was in was shaking pretty good. The over head light dropped. I was close to the door and got the heck out of the building. Outside stop signs were wobbling back and forth. Pretty amazing. Wouldn’t want to be in one any stronger thats for sure. Once in a while in Japan you will feel small tremors.

This was the only time people actually confirmed my bed walked away from the wall it was put against.
Apart from that, i had a lot of fun in school the next day drawing cartoons about people getting ‘shocks’ for one reason or the other…

I experience my bed spinning with me in it most friday nights, and all my full bottles are found empty for some reason

I suppose it IS expected, here of all places.

Sorry; sometimes you really have to put the most obvious answer because it is what is expected of you…If I didn’t then someone else would!
