While that’s true – mnemonics actually MEAN something to someone – whether they are programming keywords or Z (or Q for that matter) codes.

Like any “language” (or even the position of the keys on a typewriter) they are memorised (sometimes subconsciously, or by rote) by those that need to remember them.

Can anyone forget their service ID number? Its just like that, only more of it.

Who here doesn’t know what QNH means? (Actually, I bet a few think they know what it means, but it’s strict definition isn’t quite what they think – so maybe this isn’t a good choice, but you get my drift)
