Digital camera problems

It looks as if the ccd sensor of my Canon slr is acting as a vacum cleaner. It was cleaned 2 times last week, but the dust seems to come no mather how often I clean it. Is there any sulution for this? And what is the safest technique for cleaning a ccd sensor?Looks like I am going from scratched slides (in the past) to dust covered digital files (now). Thanks. Thanks everybody for the advise. This is something I wasn’t expecting when I chanched for “digital”. As I chanche my lenses maybe 20 times a day (when taking photos) I now understand that I must learn to clean my ccd after evey photo shoot. Not a very encouriging thought but I am afraid now that this is the only option. Thanks and best wishes, Roger

Roger

As I understand it , when the camera is on then a small charge is passed through the imageing sensor. This acts as a magnet to dust. The advice I have recieved is to make sure the camera is switched off before changing lenses.

Also make sure the “blower” you use to clean the sensor before you use it (not quite sure how to achieve this).

I use a D60, it does have a mirror and hence you cannot use the LCD on the rear of the camera to frame your shot. It does provice some protection to the sensor though.

Incidentally I cant see the dust on your picture, maybe its obscured by the thing of beauty on the back of the truck:D

If you do a search on Yahoo groups you will find a few specialising in Canon digi SLR’s The D30 and Canon-D60 being the best that I have found.

Roger,
I have read dust on the CCD is a problem with the Digital SLRs – it may have been over on www.dpreview.com I think. There was a thread about such a problem – if I can find it I’ll stick the url onto this thread.
I seem to recall that it was basically all to do with the fact that on a conventional film SLR, you have the mirror providing a ‘shield’ between the outside world and the film (CCD in the case of a digi SLR) when you are changing lenses, which is when you get the dust entry, but there is no mirror on a digi SLR.
So everytime you change the lenses you allow the outside world into your camera!!
Someones solution/suggestion was to fit a lens which covers all focal lengths you’re likely to use, thereby reducing the number of times you have to remove the lens.

I of course stand ready to be corrected as I have not yet saved enough for my Nikon D100;)

Neat pic.

Love the Jet blast deflector on the trailer and as for prop clearance…wonder if the driver checked first or had a sudden “Oh Sh*t” feeling when he stopped…or was he in a ‘Hurri’ ?.

Apart from that, dont know about dust in the CCD, sorry

No offence to us lot here Roger, but I would suggest that you ask on a site such as www.photo.net – there will be loads more people who know the answer on there than there will be here. Likewise, only a tine proportion of them would recognise a Hurricane for what it is.
