For airshows I of course use my dSLR but for family/holidays I am looking for a new, worthy digital compact. Does anybody have any recent recommendations, please?
Having photographed with Canons for many years, I wasn’t too impressed with the last IXUS I had, so currently I am looking at the 12.1 MP Sony Cybershot DSC-W200, which seems good value for money. The specs are perfect, apart from lacking wide-angle in the zoom range.
Ideally I would like:
* 10 MP or higher
* Pocket-size
* Good video capability, min. 640×480 @ 30 fps
* Reasonable zoom range, equivalent to 28-100mm or similar/better
* Decent price (up to £250-ish)
* Good digital sensor (I found my old IXUS to be very grainy)
Any suggestions?

Thanks for the tip.
If the image quality is crisp and grain free (at 100 ISO), then I can live with 7 MP. Most compacts needs to have their output scaled down a little to make decent images.
I do like the video performance of this camera.

Panasonic DMC-TZ3. Don’t get hung up on megapixel counts at this level, just about the most important thing in a camera is the lens, and the TZ3 has a Leica branded item at the front. Wide zoom range, and more possible variation on control than most users will need. Probable cost £250 or under.

Yeah I was looking at that… great specs. One problem though: my wife will probably not let me get one as it’s too thick already and too bloody ugly! :D:D:D
Of course I could just accidentally press the buy button… :diablo:
It doesn’t have wide angle though (35mm eq.) but the impressive zoom range more than compensates for that inconvenience.
