Disappointing BBC Concorde Footage?

Hi all,

How did you feel about the BBC coverage of the three Concordes arriving at Heathrow today?

I was really very annoyed with the whole thing. I want to record the whole thing and set up the video player for the 3:45pm start on BBC2. When I turned to BBC2 at 3:40pm, the coverage had already started. The telly paper did say 3:45pm, but the programme actually started at 3:30pm.

The programme itself was ‘average’. Was displeased with the presentation of it all. The BBC had gone to great extent to have the best camera shots by putting cameras all over the airfield and having helicopters hovering on the final approach.

The camerawork itself seemed shoddy. We saw the first aircraft touching down on 27R from the far end of the runway. We then saw a hangar (looks like the aircraft had already shot past), then went to the same shot as before.

Very poor quality broadcast, too. Lots of problems and fuzziness throughout. Whether that was my telly, NTL or the BBC, I don’t know.

I wanted to see the stars get off of the aircraft and to have a few of them talk about the last flight. Instead, two of the aircraft taxi around for what seems like hours… the third aircraft is lost somewhere and we just see them taxi here and there. About 25 minutes after it should have finished – it finished.

It was boring and it could have been so much better to mark such a special day for Concorde.

But forget me, what did you all think?
