Discrepancies in Tom Cooper's anecdotal stories about smaller incidents

I’m really interested in obscure, niche, anecdotal military air confrontations, and I’ve read a lot of Tom Cooper over the years.
However, over time I’ve been noticing several incidents and anecdotes he’ll describe in his books and articles that get the facts skewed or wrong. I wanted to write down four of these, and would be interested in others’ thoughts.

First is an incident where Talibs shot down an Uzbek Su-24 Fencer. In an older acig article, Afghanistan, 1979-2001; Part 3, he says the Fencer was shot down on June 6th, 2001. However, looking for more details, I tracked down a copy of the August 2000 edition of Air Forces Monthly, and found it was June 6th/7th, 2000.
Sadly this possible typo confused the author Lukas Muller, who stated the incorrect 2001 date on page 58 of his book Wings Over the Hindu Kush: Air Forces, Aircraft and Air Warfare of Afghanistan, 1989-2001, citing Cooper’s article on page 71.

Second are incidents of the Iraq Air Force shooting down Syrian MiGs in the 1980s. In another older acig article, Iraqi Air-to-Air Victories since 1967, Cooper lists three instances;
An IqAF MiG-21MF using an R.550 Magic to shoot down a SyAAF MiG-21R in April 1981
An IqAF MiG-25PD of 96FS using an R-40 to shoot down a SyAAF MiG-21RF on October 2nd, 1986
And the IqAF shooting down a SyAAF MiG-21 on July 2nd, 1987.
Now, I scoured all the sources he provided in the article and none of them mentioned any of these shoot downs, so I then searched high and low elsewhere, and the only shoot down written about anywhere I could find was the one in 1987, which occurred on July 27th, with articles covering it stating that it was the first reported Syrian Air Force loss since November 19th 1985, almost certainly discounting the alleged October 1986 MiG-25 kill. Anti-aircraft batteries are also specified.

Third is an instance where Libyan Mirages fired towards a USAF C-130 in 1973. Mentioned in Libyan Air Wars: Part 1: 1973-1985, where Tom Cooper says it took place on March 13th, involved a C-130B-II, five Libyan Mirages, and that the Mirages fired warning shots in front of the aircraft.
I’ve pretty extensively read the reports of the time, and it occurred on March 21st, involved two Libyan Mirages, and the Mirages were heard receiving orders to fire upon the C-130 with it’s electronic surveillance equipment and onboard language specialist. I can find no description of it being a C-130B-II specifically, and the 7406th seems to have fielded more than one type of C-130 at the time.

Finally an incident where Libyan Mirages strafed an Italian Navy corvette. This again being mentioned in Libyan Air Wars: Part 1: 1973-1985, Cooper says the corvette strafed was the Visintini (F546). It was actually the De Cristofaro (F540), sharing the same class as the Visinti.

This isn’t some condemnation of Cooper, but a compilation of research and a reminder to always cross reference sources.
