Southend receives diversions relatively frequently, especially from London City Airport, which is very vulnerable to low cloud and fog.
Fog which didn’t clear as quickly as foretasted resulted in an unscheduled visit from this British Airways E190 destined for London City from Madrid. Only the 3rd E190 to visit Southend.
Arriving 24 in the murk:

And some different style shots from me of it being marshaled to par across the stand (owing to a lack of a towbar for an E190).

Thumbs (or in this case fist) up. Stobart branded ‘truck’ with a GPU ready and waiting:

And after about an hour, the Embraer departed to Edinburgh. Turning around at the end of Runway 06:

And departing with some spray, the only benefit of the horrible weather!

A new resident at Southend is this Titan Airways 757, which is on standby, staying at Southend apparently owing to the high parking fees at Stansted.
Being towed to a stand by the old terminal:

And a nice tail shot, showing off the great livery, with the Embraer behind:

And there was later on, when the weather got even worse, a further displaced aircraft arrival. A CityJet Fokker from Munster, having to diverty to Southend as LCY owing to knock on delays causing it to arrive well after the lunchtime closing time at London City Airprot on a Saturday lunchtime. Here;s a sole shot of it departing in the dark and rain later to Paris Orly,

Once again, I hope these are of interest!

Thanks for your comments EGTC and Doors4.
There’s always a lot of luck required for diversion, the aircraft following the Embraer which diverted landed, however G-CLYP had insufficient fuel to try another approach.
I have to agree about the Cityjet livery, certainly not a patch on the old VLM one, and the terrible weather didn’t help things.

That Cityjet livery is such a non-event after the lovely VLM livery previously worn by this Fokker.

Very nice. You’ve been in luck lately 🙂
