Diversions and a Football Charter at Southend

Here’s a selection of images from Southend over the past 3 weeks.

First, the very nice Estonian E170 arriving from Humberside with Hull A.F.C. for their FA Cup tie against Southend United! This Embraer is based at Birmingham, a very nice addition to the UK charter market!

I made it to the airport just in time to catch it slowing down on arrival.

More dull weather I’m afraid for this British Airways Embraer departing back to London City after having diverted in earlier because of a low cloudbase.

Now some sunny shots, and a further diversion. Here’s LN-KKW departing back to Lasham after having diverted from their owing to a low cloud base the previous evening. I made it into position with just seconds to spare! One of the very last 737 classics in the Norwegian fleet.

Not a diversion, but one of the nice new Aer Lingus Regional ATR72-600s arriving on the afternoon service from Dublin.

And finally, a nice surprise from this afternoon. A Cityjet Fokker 50 diverting in from London City with a technical problem. The flight originated in Nantes. I was very lucky to get a sunny shot of its characteristic nose down approach, as a couple of minutes prior it was pouring with rain as a torrential shower passed through.
