Diversity @ Norwich …..

Hi all, not a large airport, not a vast amount of movements, but, I hope you will agree, we are certainly blessed with a diverse variety of types and sizes !

This selection over four days, not all movements, just those whilst I was there ?

Keith.

mike currill. Thank you once again …. only too happy to help with a smile at times ! 🙂

jeta1. Thank you also for your nice comments, and welcome to the forum ! 🙂

My humble camera … Nikon D40x …. all these photos using a Nikkor 70-300 VR lens.

Yes we are lucky enough to have Air Livery at NWI, they do a quick turnaround on many and various spray jobs, there are three spray shops, each one half of a hangar.
To give an example of the activities …. todays clients ….

Spray One. This contains Alitalia A320 I-BIKO … previous tenant Austrian F100 OE-LVB.

Spray Two. This contains Boeing 757 200 G-OOBN Thomson, arrived all white following lease to Air Berlin, possibly to emerge as Thomson ?? …. previous tenant OH-SAG .. RJ85 .. Blue 1 .. end of lease back to City Jet as EI-RJL ??

Spray Three. This contains ATR72 … N385FA …Precision Air ? to emerge as …… ?? previous tenant British Aerospace Hawk T2 ZK010 !!

Excellent pictures, all pin sharp as well as interesting subjects, can I ask what what camera you use?

I understand there is an aviation paint shop at NWI which draws some of the interesting aircraft there.

civilspotter. Excellent photo and info ! thank you ! If you Google search the aircrafts name “OSA’S ARK” it comes up with a lot of info including photos from its tour of Africa and the original one still in a museum in the US.

I’ve been reading up on that Sikorsky S38 flight. From Norwich it went to Frankfurt. I found a photo of it being pushed into a hangar

A series of this type flew in the Dutch Indies (Indonesia these days) before WW2. There is a dutch aircraft illustator called Hugo Hooftman who made a drawing of this type in flight.
A print of this drawing was hanging in one of the classrooms at my old school, it looked a bit of a phantasy drawing to me at the time.
Later I learned more about the Sikorsky flying boats and discovered it was flying for real.

bit of nostalgia for you
