Do I dare? …even more Flying Legends 2005 pics! (from Saturday)

Do I dare? Well I don’t see a photo forum yet, so here goes. My harvest from Saturday’s show. I shot almost 1300 pictures (gotto love digital!) but had to make shift with a crappy 75-300mm as my normal 400mm went bust on Kemble… 🙁

For who the following bunch of pictures still isn’t enough, many more can be found HERE! 😎

Zwitter, it’s the cheapest 75-300mm too (model “II” without USM or IS).
I typically use 1/350th of a second. Exposure is set manually. Most pictures aren’t crystal clear at full resolution, but after scaling down to web resolution and applying some Unsharp Mask filtering in Photoshop they look a lot better.
Feel free to send me one of your pictures (at full resolution) and I’ll see what I can get out of it. You can either PM me or send me an e-mail.
Practise is necessary too. I’ve been photographing on airshows for more than 12 years now and every year I’m a bit “rusty” at the begin of the season 😀
In my own defence, some are crystal clear at full 3072×2048 pixel resolution, but those are few and they’re usually not action pictures.

Thanks MOTF 🙂

can’t believe you used the 75-300, mine isn’t half as sharp as yours!

what settings did you use?

Thanks very much for the comments! Glad you like ’em!

Don’t forget there are many more here:

I didn’t dare posting them all here as it’s a good few megabytes worth of pics! 🙂

Janie, thanks for the tip. I’ve never been to such a prom evening and it looks like a good night out.

Does anyone have pics from last year’s flying proms?

I wish they’d do a Flying Legends Evening Display, just like on Old Warden, and starting at 4 PM. It would be absolute magic! 🙂

Try this http://www.musicalassociates.co.uk/duxford.html

It’s the Flying Proms Spectacular (JDK probably calls it the Flying Poms!)
It’s at Duxford, starts at 7.30pm on Sat 23 July, and has twighlight flying, magnificent music and an awsome fireworks display.

I watched the crowd leaving the first one at Duxford, two years ago. I have never seen such a happy bunch of people leaving the airfield. It was quite an electric atmosphere and that was despite the torrential rain.

Thanks very much guys & girls! 🙂

Damien, yes, I was just being “kicked” from the airfield when the B17 started taxiing and I managed to catch it with the lovely low sunlight.

Notice the Alpine B-25 has a man in the front taking a picture of the Dutch B-25. He’s got to have some interesting photos.
