I’m hoping as part of a small group to purchase later this summer a small historic jet that will hopefully be made runnable with time and work (static runs only due to lack of space no chance of taxi runs).
Said aircraft will be hopefully kept on a private car park, would planning permission be required before the aircraft can be placed in a private car park ?

Solved
Well, I thought that I had solved this one – and that the jet in question was a Mig 21 – and that it is not in Derbyshire but in Germany – and that Andrewman had got so fed up with the affair that he is offering the Mig for sale on eBay Germany – oh well I’ve clearly got in wrong – but looking at the photo again………………………

There are so many questions to ask, it may be worth you sending me a PM or E-mail with more details including an address, site plan and the local authority concerned and I’ll give you a bit of free advice.
If the private car park, whatever that means, is within the curtilage of a Listed Building, or a conservation area, you will probably be stuffed!!!!
I can certainly provide u with a site plan and photo’s (of said site) via pm – will send them at some point over the easter weekend, we have no listed buildings or conervation area issues with the site.
We do however have a row of aprox 10 houses and a shop starting 350 ft to the right hand side of the carpark.
I see you come from Swad, does that mean Swadlincote, if so I’ve never had anything to do with that authority for many years I’m afraid.
Yes this project is taking place in the South Derbshire council area but is not in the main Swadlincote center.
The scope for accidents is huge, from ingesting fod, running people over, or even a slip of the throttle, and powering into someone’s house. Better to stick to tied-doen engine runs.
We have no plans to taxi the jet only to run the engine and other sytems on a static basis.
Thank you to Merlin70 for your imput and links to further information, a good deal of reading materail there.
Paint it pink, stick a flower up the tail pipe, aanounce that it an art installation pertaining to ‘The Futility Of War’ and they will probably give you a bl**dy grant.
THEN……………………………….rev the nuts off it!
Pink hhhhhhhhhmmmmmmmmm and a flower lol we have a girly jet 😛
Anyway I’m going to have a second good read of the advice I have been given and try and get my head round it all.

And there you go, a simple problem wth internet access was the reason for Andrewman’s absence…

Ok then, in which case I apologise and still offer the benefit of my advice, Andrewman.
Incidentally, assuming that we are talking Swadlincote here, by coincidence I heard on the national news yesterday of some particularly nasty acts of vanadalism by local youths in the area, as my old mum would say, ‘Ooh dear’, is there a particular problem in this area then, I’m thinking of Humbrol Hunters here.

Please forgive my ignorance in not replying sooner, my nice new usb modem decided to pack up working and have been waiting on a replacement.
Normally I would have replied via works computers but they are currently on a big thing against non business use of web (blame the fool caught spending 3 or 4 hrs per day on bebo when meant to be working ffs).
I can only apologize if people feel Ive wasted or taken advantage of there time this was not my intention at all and again I offer my apologies.
Thank you to all who have replied so far, I’m going to have a good read of the advice you’ve given and will post back later tonight or tomorrow morning.

Inspired guess but wrong I think, the poster does have a good interest in Vulcans and Sea Vixens!:D
By: Livewirex - 19th March 2008 at 23:06
Would it be JP T.5 XW311 from the news page 16 of FP April 2008? That says its awaiting planning permission. Perhaps not, but its waiting in a car park at Popham.
By: Newforest - 19th March 2008 at 17:06
Hows that none of the above,
I was referring to your suggested excuses of vacation, work or computer breakdown. Courtesy in a simple reply does not cost anything.:)
By: pagen01 - 19th March 2008 at 17:02
Hows that none of the above, surely ‘not taking it as seriously’ or ‘not having to respond to own thread’ counts! Me reckons the former.
My point is, it isn’t really an issue to get steamed up about and start having ago and different posters, and some good advice is in the public demain.
By: Newforest - 19th March 2008 at 16:49
None of the above Mr. Page, the perp of this thread was viewing it today. And anyway the carpark is in Swad, wherever that is!:D
By: pagen01 - 19th March 2008 at 16:36
You ned to chill a little bit PT, Andrewman could be very busy, away on business or holiday or his computers gone down. As mentioned, you don’t have to reply to a thread.
Maybe hes not taking the whole thing as seriously as you obviously are. At the very least good advice has come out on a public forum.
By: Peter - 19th March 2008 at 15:36
Pete Truman,
just because Andrewman hasn’t replied, does not mean he is wasting anyones time! Maybe he is ill? Maybe he has been called away for work, holidays, who knows??!!
Not all of us sit at the pc everyday waiting to see what new posts or replies are made.
I think patience is in order here…

There is no rule to say anyone must reply to their own thread. The intent of the original post also appears genuine.

What a pathetic statement, I’m sure that the original post was genuine, well perhaps in your eyes, whats the point in making what is in fact quite an important enquiry then hiding under the bedcovers, Merlin 70 in particular has taken alot of trouble replying to this, it’s also taken my time off sorting out a particularly tricky Building Regs job to offer help at my own expense.
We’ve had no imput from Andrewman whatsoever, as far as I’m concerned stick it in the car park without the benefit of our advice and see what happens, end of story.
Dog and bone is of no consequence Norm, I’ve just been trying to help, along with a lot of other people, yes, I get wound up about things, but this has proved to be a waste of time.

🙂 I would guess there may be some regulations regarding fire precautions, jet engines+fuel could = BANG.
Noise abatement ,oh i would guess that may be a headache.
The sticker in the car could be interesting,my other vehicle is a ???????:)
The local pikeys will have fun removing it:rolleyes:

I’m not letting this dissappear, what are you going to do then Andrewman, can we have a response please.
Your like a dog with a bone Mr Truman.

I’m not letting this dissappear, what are you going to do then Andrewman, can we have a response please, whats the point of making an enquiry, allowing people to give up their time in giving their appraisals, whatever they are, but have taken a lot of effort in doing so, then you not having the decency to make a comment either on here or by PM, forget it pal, shove it in the car park and see what happens, at your peril.

The residents were probably too scared to complain in case you ran over their Wartburg or Skoda in retaliation (or even their NSU Quickly, about the most misnamed motorised machine I ever came across)
I never realised that Moggy was living in east Germany…..
Seriously though, two pieces of advice, an enforcement officer once told me, that it is much harder to successfully enforce against something ,once it has been installed, than to stop it in before the work has been carried out.
Once the planning dept trots out the line” detrimental to the visual amenity” , your in trouble, because exactly what is “detrimental” is subjective, and ultimately down to one mans opinion, (whether he is an appeals officer, or a judge)

I’d ask to cut him some slack – it’s about 36 hours now since his posting and not everyone has internet access 24/7
Roger Smith.
Rubbish, with such an important issue, what was the point of enquiring in the first place without getting involved in the subsequent comments, or taking advice from them, 36 hours is a long time without comment on this matter, would you do the same?
By: RPSmith - 18th March 2008 at 12:10
… There’s been no real explanation, details, or anything, not even the courtesy of a reply…
